WA Farm Direct is seeking additional growers for the apple marketed domestically as Bravo® and internationally as Soluna®, following its entry into China and increased demand across domestic and export markets.
The company is encouraging grafting this winter to bring additional orchard blocks into bearing. Executive Manager Rebecca Blackman said future plantings would not be based on a fixed tree target. New tree allocations will instead be assessed according to demand, regional suitability, grower capability, and supply requirements.
Supply levels are reviewed against domestic and export demand forecasts, while geographic diversification is used to manage seasonal risk and maintain supply over the marketing period.
Bravo apple output increased by approximately 20 per cent this season and is expected to rise further as young orchards mature. The grower base has expanded to more than 80 growers nationally, while the apple now has national distribution in Australia.
In export markets, Soluna has entered China with its first commercial volumes. The international program is also supplying markets across Asia and the Middle East, with opportunities developing in North America.
WA Farm Direct said its export strategy will balance market development with supply management. Bravo and Soluna are both part of the ANABP 01 apple program, with the two brands used for domestic and international markets respectively.
